Garlinge Primary School and Nursery, Westfield Road, Margate, Kent, CT9 5PA
The terms 'Gifted and Talented' encompasses children who are exceptionally able across the curriculum as well as those who show talent in one or more specific area.
With the introduction of the new National Curriculum, it is even more important for us at Garlinge Primary School and Nursery to value all our children equally and endeavour to ensure that each child has the opportunity to realise their potential in a challenging and supportive environment. The children are identified and extended through a series of opportunities both internally and externally of the school.
We believe that we can make a difference by enabling these pupils to achieve the greatest possible progress and to recognise the value and importance of identifying and celebrating their achievements and successes.
We aim to ensure there is a consistent approach to support our gifted and talented children through: the identification of talented or gifted pupils within our school as early as possible, to aim to meet our pupils' needs with a range of appropriate strategies, to provide access to a suitably differentiated and challenging curriculum whilst creating an emphasis on providing opportunities for pupils to identify their gifts and talents. We feel, the diverse needs of all our children is paramount to their learning and will endeavour to provide extended opportunities through a Gifted and Talented curriculum during and after school.
Within our Gifted and Talented provision, our aim is to provide opportunities to extend and flourish our children within areas such as: Theatre, Sports and Dance and Drama. Helpful website links are offered below for more information outside of the school curriculum:
